I have really good luck knitting from stash. First, I had that one lonely ball of light blue Kidsilk Haze, and then Knitty published the Ice Queen pattern. Now, I have one lonely skein of Misti Alpaca lace weight, and Knitting Daily decides to give away the Swallowtail Shawl pattern for free. I can't wait to start!
I haven't been able to knit much lately, but I did finish my second Ice Queen. The crystal beads on the light blue one really did look like ice, but on this one (a very pretty light green; much lighter than the picture) they look like dew drops. Very Elvish! The blue one was for my youngest daughter, the green one is for my middle daughter, and I've started one for my oldest daughter in a lovely dark teal. The beads are looking like ice on this one, too.
I was wondering what to do when I finished the third Ice Queen, since I only have three daughters. But now I know: I'll make a Swallowtail! For me!
Then maybe I'll be confident enough to start something from Victorian Lace Today.
